Streamwood teen crowned NISP Social Ambassador Queen 2014

Arielle Christopher, 14, of Streamwood, was crowned Northern Illinois Scholarship Program Social Ambassador Queen 2014 at the Northern Illinois Scholarship Program Awards Tea, held in the Wauconda Township Building, 505 W. Bonner Road, on Sunday, Oct. 6.

Arielle and her sister community ambassadors attended the Awards Tea to receive their year of service pins, possibly win a service award, or hopefully win an Honor Queen title. Honor Queens are ambassadors who win a higher title because they worked hard to earn it, had referrals or votes by their peers showing they were an excellent role model or any combination of each.

An Ambassador Queen is an Honor Queen who is selected for having qualifications as a role model, especially a leader with a positive nature that will help make NISP grow.

“I was speechless”, said Arielle. “I just cried with joy because this was my first queen title with NISP.”

Arielle’s new title earned her a beautiful crown, sash, and the yearlong privilege to represent NISP at various events throughout her community.

“Arielle won the very first NISP Social Ambassador Queen Crown for her continued efforts to support her surrounding communities and NISP through volunteerism, appearances, and special events,” said Diane Calabrese, NISP director. “We are very proud of her for all her service.”

Over the past year, Christopher appeared at several events such as the Hanover Park Veterans Plaza Dedication, Alexian Brothers Women’s & Children’s Hospital Grand Opening, and she was a Honorary Page in the Illinois House of Representatives. She also volunteered for local charities such as the 5th annual Walk in the Fight Against Lyme Disease, Take a Stand for Turning Point, and Chili’s More Hope Campaign for St. Jude Kids.

The Northern Illinois Scholarship Program is based in Wauconda. For information, contact Diane Calabrese, NISP director, (847) 778-9961, or visit www.nisprograms.com.
