Right-wing cabal hobbles government

U.S. Rep. John Dingell of Michigan stated that “American people would get better government out of Monkey Island at the local zoo than we’re giving them today.”

His remarks, while amusing, just highlight the embarrassing, irresponsible actions of our Congress. Congress could pass a simple continuing resolution to fund the government, but they have chosen not to. Congress appears not to care that their actions have impacted the economy and prevented hundreds of thousands of Americans from working. Rather, a controlling group within Congress is focused on unfunding the Affordable Care Act, no matter what their ideological actions cost the average American.

The Affordable Care Act needs work as it is far from perfect. To Representative Roskam and his colleagues: debate and negotiate health care issues at another time; pass the continuing resolution now.

I hope we remember on election day who participated in this right-wing cabal to hobble the government.
