Jeep crashes into Lake Villa dry cleaners, injuring one

The owner of a Lake Villa dry-cleaning store was injured Tuesday when a Jeep plowed into the business, authorities said.

The Jeep drove over a curb and crashed through the storefront at Fashion Cleaners, 850 Tower Drive, about 12:45 p.m.

The vehicle stopped about 30 feet inside the store, police said.

The Jeep pushed over the store’s counter. The shop’s owner, a 56-year-old woman, was found on the floor behind the counter, police said.

Her injuries were not life threatening, police said. She was taken to an area hospital.

No one else was hurt.

Two people were inside the Jeep when police arrived, according to a news release. An 84-year-old woman had been driving, police said.

The woman had been trying to park so she could pick up some dry cleaning, police said.

No other information was available about them.

The accident is under investigation.
