Daily Herald report

Some Lake Zurich children plan to celebrate International Walk to School Day on Wednesday. Isaac Fox Elementary School students, parents and faculty will be joined by Lake Zurich Police Chief Patrick Finlon, Mayor Thomas Poynton, village Trustee Jim Beaudoin and Lake Zurich Unit District 95 Superintendent Michael Egan. For students who live too far to walk, LA Fitness on Rand Road has permitted use of its lot closest to Deerpath Road. Upon arriving at school, the district's food service provider, Sodexo, will provide a healthy snack for each student. The walk is designed to promote healthier lifestyle habits, a cleaner environment and to boost a sense of community. It also brings awareness to safety issues, such as lack of sidewalks and speeding vehicles.
