Streamwood man dies in workplace accident in Union

Authorities are investigating the death of a 59-year-old Streamwood man they said was struck and killed by a Bobcat tractor Tuesday while working at a McHenry County Conservation District site north of Huntley.

Marco O. Aguilar died Tuesday morning at the Pleasant Valley Conservation Area maintenance building, McHenry County Coroner Dr. Anne Majewski said in a news release.

Authorities said Aguilar was working inside a pole barn type building at 14308 Hemmingsen Road in Union when he was struck by a Bobcat machine being used to prep and grade the floor. Both Aguilar and the tractor driver were contractors, McHenry County Undersheriff Andrew Zinke said.

“This has all the indications of a tragic workplace accident,” Zinke said.

Marengo/Union Fire and Rescue responded to the 911 call. Aguilar was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:48 a.m., the release stated.

The coroner’s also called Aguilar’s death an accident.

Majewski said an autopsy performed Wednesday showed Aguilar sustained multiple injuries to his head, chest, abdomen and bones.

The McHenry County Conservation Police, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating Aguilar’s death.
