Punishment doesn’t fit the crime

Seeing how President Obama has handled the Syrian chemical weapons crisis makes me wish he was my father when I was growing up. He’d tell me that if I was caught smoking cigarettes that that would be a red line I wouldn’t want to cross without facing serious consequences. I’d get caught red-handed but my only punishment would be that my smokes would get taken away. I’d still be allowed to play with other friends who smoke, who’d be only too happy to share their cigarettes with me when my father’s back would be turned.
