Get reading, Four Seasons Book Club to meet Oct. 16

Join the Rolling Meadows Library at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, for the fall session of the library’s Four Seasons Book Club as the group discusses one young woman’s remarkable journey from the streets of the Bronx to the Ivy League.

Liz Murray was born into poverty. Her drug addicted parents would rather buy drugs than put food on the table. She eventually dropped out of school and became homeless by age 15. However, with the death of her mother, Murray began a plan to turn her life around.

In her book, “Breaking Night: A Memoir of Forgiveness, Survival, and My Journey from Homeless to Harvard,” author Liz Murray shares her struggle to overcome the barriers of poverty and the stereotype of being homeless. Murray’s gritty memoir is a story of desperation and survival. Yet it is also a story of determination and hope. This heartbreaking story inspires readers to take a second look at how we view both the homeless and ourselves.
