Mundo-Gonzalez was taken to Centegra Hospital in McHenry with life-threatening injuries and later taken by helicopter to Rockford Memorial Hospital. He's currently in critical but stable condition.

The driver of the truck, Kristina Stynoski, 28, of Wonder Lake, has not been charged in the crash, which remains under investigation by Crystal Lake police.

Traffic on Route 14 was rerouted for about two hours as police investigated and cleared debris from the roadway.
