Ownership of immigration needed

Republican members of the U.S. House, including our Congressman Peter Roskam, should work hard to accomplish comprehensive immigration reform. As a Republican voter and business-owner in Wheaton, I feel that we need to take ownership of this issue.

Comprehensive immigration reform is a moral imperative as we cannot turn our backs on the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants in this country. These immigrants are mostly hard-working individuals dedicated to faith and family. We can solve this issue with reasonable legislation to secure our border and require those who came here illegally to pay back taxes and fines, learn English, undergo a criminal background check and step to the back of the line.

It is Republicans who have everything to gain by solving such an important issue for millions of Americans and by bringing new members into the party.
