Stevenson Center hosts forest preserve director

Alex Ty Kovach, executive director of the Lake County Forest Preserve District, is the featured speaker for the next Dialogs in Democracy event hosted by the Stevenson Center on Democracy at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15.

Conservation and Community Integration in Developing Countries is the topic of the talk at the center, 25200 N. St. Mary’s Road, Mettawa. Cost is $15.

Kovach, who recently was hired as the new forest preserve chief, has a diverse background of international leadership in conservation and economic development, most recently as CEO for Cabo Delgado Investment in Mozambique. He has taken an environmental management approach in developing countries and worked with local communities for long term sustainability.
