Don't let Syria policy repeat history

  • Article
text size: AAA

It has been said many times; "Those who ignore history tend to repeat it."

This seems to be the story of our government. In spite of being the "world's greatest super power," we have not been successful in winning a war since World War II.

Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan have been disasters in which hundreds of thousands of our young men have been killed or wounded needlessly. Now we are hot to trot in Syria. Who appointed us the world police force?

Syria is an ally of Russia and China. Messing with Syria could lead to a confrontation with Russia and China that the entire would regret. Even our so-called allies (who have always been willing to fight to the last American) are against our involvement.

Wake up, Obama, Biden, Durbin and the rest of the politicians, and smell the coffee. Of course none of you children or grandchildren will ever stand on the firing line, but our loved ones will.
