No injuries in Maple Park barn fire

A barn fire near Maple Park Friday afternoon was contained within a half-hour of firefighters arriving on scene, authorities said.

Emergency crews were called to the fire near Route 47 and Lees Road at 12:09 p.m., according to the Elburn and Countryside Fire Protection District.

The first firefighters to arrive found a hay barn engulfed in flames; crews were able to control the fire in about 30 minutes, authorities said.

No animals were in the barn, and no injuries were reported. A damage estimate was not available.

The fire remains under investigation. A total of seven area fire departments responded to the scene.
