Lisle Police Watch Cmdr. Ron Wilke said the investigation began in March based on a tip from federal authorities. The referral sparked an "extensive" investigation by a local detective trained in computer forensics, he said.

O'Brien is accused of downloading at least two child pornography images to a computer, court records show. He is scheduled to appear in DuPage County court Oct. 8.
