Police: iPads, iPods taken from Lake Zurich school

Lake Zurich police say they are investigating a burglary at a village school that resulted in the loss of Apple iPods and iPads.

Police Cmdr. David Bradstreet said the burglary happened at Seth Paine Elementary School, which serves kindergarten through fifth grade students. Police said the building at 50 Miller Road was reported burglarized at 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Bradstreet declined to say how the break-in occurred. He said “numerous” iPads and iPods were reported stolen, but Lake Zurich Unit District 95 officials had yet to provide an exact number or estimated dollar loss.

“We have some specific people in mind,” Bradstreet said.

Seth Paine’s enrollment was estimated at 425 students on the most recent 2012 state report card.

Earlier this week, Chicago police said they arrested a 13-year-old boy, eight other teenagers and a 25-year-old man in the theft of almost $100,000 worth of iPads and laptop computers from an elementary school. Bradstreet said the Lake Zurich burglary is not connected to the one at Chicago’s Drake Elementary School in the Bronzeville neighborhood.
