Shaw's ‘crabaret'

Las Vegas meets Shaw's Crab House at a Grand Crab Buffet and Show. This year's Suburban Chicago's Got Talent winner Gabriela Francesca performs classic lounge songs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30. The buffet includes dungeness, snow and Alaskan king crab, empress crab claws, Maryland-style crabcakes, beef tenderloin, oysters on the half shell, jumbo shrimp cocktail, hand-rolled maki, salads and seasonal veggies. Desserts include Key lime, raspberry and pecan pies in miniature. $56 per person, drinks, gratuity and tax not included.

Firehouse Subs open

Decorated in firefighter memorabilia with a mural of fire being extinguished against a Chicago skyline, Firehouse Subs recently opened in Mount Prospect. Open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, the eatery offers subs piled with a half-pound of meat. Favorites include the Hook and Ladder, which includes smoked turkey, Virginia honey ham and Monterey Jack cheese, and the New York Steamer, corned beef brisket and pastrami topped with melted provolone.

Tramonto Steak and Seafood closes

Tramonto Steak and Seafood and RT Lounge have closed and will be converted into banquet space within the Westin Chicago North Shore in Wheeling. Another restaurant in the hotel, Saranello's Ristorante Italiano, will provide catering for events there large and small. The spaces will be renamed Saranello's Banquets.
