NU stars score big for charity in BMW exhibition

With the BMW Championship at Conway Farms Golf Club just a month away, PGA Tour pros Luke Donald and Mark Wilson joined Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich and Northwestern basketball coach Chris Collins in golf exhibition Monday to benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation.

The nine-hole exhibition, played before an intimate guest list of 250 select golf fans, raised $45 for the foundation, which provides housing and tuition scholarships for deserving caddies.

Playing alternate shots on each hole, the winning team of Collins and Donald, a Northwestern alum and Conway Farms member, earned $25,000 in prize money for the Evans Scholars Foundation, and Wilson and Hinrich earned $20,000 for the charity.

The top 70 golfers in the world will head to Conway Farms next month for the BMW Championship, Sept. 9-15. The BMW Championship, with a purse of $8 million, is the third of four events in the PGA Tour's FedExCup Playoffs. For more information or tickets, visit www.bmwchampionshipusa.com.
