Pottawatomie Garden Club Awards 2013 Scholarship

The Pottawatomie Garden Club is proud to announce its 2013 college scholarship award winner. St. Charles North High School graduate Devin Kelly was presented $3,000 at the club’s July 22 meeting for his outstanding high school accomplishments and desire to pursue an education in environmental and natural resources engineering. An active participant in the National Honor Society, Kelly maintained a 5.0 grade point average.

In the fall Kelly will be attending the Purdue University College of Agriculture. He would like to focus on minimizing the effects of acid rain, addressing global climate change, automobile emissions and the protection of wildlife. “I believe a quality environment is essential for maintaining good health while also allowing people to enjoy and participate in their physical environment,” said Kelly.

The Pottawatomie Garden Club’s annual scholarship is awarded to a St. Charles student who is interested in higher education relating to horticulture studies. Applications are reviewed in the spring. More information is available at www.pottagardenclub.org.
