Big Trucks cruise into Barrington Saturday for free event

Fire trucks, construction vehicles, huge tow trucks and more than a dozen other “big trucks” will cruise into Ron Beese Park in Barrington this weekend for the Barrington Park District’s 14th annual Big Trucks event.

The event — free this year — takes place from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, in the parking lot of the park, 50 Rotary Drive, just off Cornell Avenue. No preregistration is required to attend.

Children will have the opportunity to climb aboard and explore the vehicles and watch demonstrations to learn how they work.

Besides checking out the trucks, young visitors can take a ride aboard a trackless train from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m.; go down a huge inflatable slide provided by Pump it Up; and participate in Big Wheel races from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

For more information, contact Jodi Krause at the Barrington Park District at (847) 304-5291 or jkrause@barringtonparkdistrict.org.
