Synchronized swimming demo Aug. 10, in Des Plaines

The AquaSprites Synchronized Swim Youth & Masters Team invite interested swimmers to a demonstration from 4-5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, at Lattof YMCA, 300 E. Northwest Highway, Des Plaines. Seating will begin at 3:45 p.m. Admission is free.

Synchronized Swimming is the Olympic sport that combines strength, flexibility, endurance grace, split-second timing, swimming, gymnastics, and dance skills with musical interpretation. The demo includes skills, throws-lifts-platforms and routine swims.

The AquaSpites Youth team, ages 5-19, qualified 10 athletes for the Age Group Championship in Riverside Calif., the end of June. The Masters team, ages 20 and over, won the Gold Medal for Team Age 35-49 at the Pan Pam Masters Games in Florida this spring.
