"On the scene, officers collected evidence and took statements from witnesses who gave a description of an individual believed to be involved in the shooting," according to a statement released Tuesday by police, who did not respond to phone messages.

"Information is being gathered and significant leads are being aggressively pursued. The preliminary investigation revealed this is not a random act. At this time we are attempting to locate more witnesses/suspects, verify statements and continue to process the evidence obtained from the scene," police said.

Police asked people with information to call (847) 546-2127.
