Garage fire in Palatine
No one was injured during a Saturday morning fire that heavily damaged a garage on the 600 block of South Warren Avenue in Palatine, authorities said.
The Palatine Fire Department was called at 9:41 a.m. about the blaze, which broke out in a 2½-car detached garage. The first crews arrived at the scene six minutes later.
Authorities said the blaze was declared under control in 10 minutes. Firefighters, however, continued to perform extensive salvage and overhaul activities for “some time“ after the fire was extinguished because of a large amount of storage in the garage, Palatine fire officials said in a written statement.
Officials said the 1½-story garage sustained heavy damaged during the fire. Estimates for how much it would cost to make repairs weren’t available. Investigators were working to determine what caused the blaze.
