With the long-planned reconstruction of Rollins Road through central Lake County about to begin, transportation officials will host an open house for concerned motorists Wednesday.
The informational meeting on the Rollins Road Gateway Project is set for 5 to 7 p.m. at the Cultural and Civic Center of Round Lake Beach, 2007 Civic Center Way.
Lake County transportation division officials will share information about the project, its schedule and what can be expected during the various phases of construction.
The $30.8 million project is expected to begin in the next several weeks. It will take about two years to complete.
As part of the project:
• The elevation of Rollins Road and Route 83 will be lowered.
• A new bridge to carry the Canadian National railroad tracks over the intersection will be built.
• New traffic signals and turn lanes will be added.
• Hainesville Road and nearby shopping mall entrances will be moved away from the intersection.
