Waukegan man arrested on drug, weapons charges

A Waukegan man faces numerous charges after Lake County sheriff’s officers were tipped off that he was dealing drugs, authorities said.

Police carried out a search warrant at the home of Aaron L. Brown, 34, of the 1600 block of Armory Place, on Thursday.

Officers said they discovered 1,261 grams of cannabis and a loaded .40 caliber handgun. Brown’s two children were home at the time of the search, and the home had been fortified to make it more difficult for law enforcement officers to enter, police said.

Brown was charged with possession of cannabis, possession with the intent to deliver, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful defacing of identification marks on a firearm, criminal fortification of a residence, and child endangerment, authorities said.

Brown was released after he posted 10 percent of his $20,000 bail. He’s expected in court again at 9 a.m. Aug. 22.
