Garden Club of Inverness installs new officers; closes out banner year

The formal club year of the Garden Club of Inverness closed with its annual spring luncheon at the Inverness Golf Club. After remarks from President, Mary Jo Bregenzer, the new officers were installed and the 2013-14 board introduced.

Officers are: President, Mary Jo Bregenzer; first vice-president, Melodie Moroney; corresponding secretary, Susan Erikson; treasurer, Kelly Reynolds; director, Melinda Foys.

Committee chairs are: Holiday luncheon, Melodie Moroney and Michelle Kurtzweil; hospitality, Mary Rubino and Joanne Ayers; membership, Dianne Sever; publicity, Linda Denison; scholarship, Marilyn Dutcher; village gardens, Sally Hard; and garden therapy, Penny Berger.

The members and guests were delighted to learn that, due to the success of this year’s holiday luncheon and the generosity of its attendees, $1,300 scholarships were presented to three young ladies; Ellen Hanes, Maya Heidtke and Katelyn Pozniak.

Following the business meeting the guests were treated to a delicious lunch; and as always, the centerpieces were marvelous. Members who volunteered to fill clay wine bottle coolers with fresh flower arrangements that exceeded all expectations.

The club’s next meeting will take place 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at All Saints Lutheran Church, 630 S. Quentin Road, Palatine.
