Gardens: A good idea at bad location

I have read and heard much about the possible Catherine Alice Gardens facility, which will take the place of an industrial warehouse on Eric Drive. My dental practice is not far from Eric Drive in the Village of Palatine, so I am familiar with the area.

I applaud those who are trying to help people with disabilities by providing housing, yet I strongly disagree with this location. As a local business owner, I understand how important it is to provide space for entrepreneurs and local businesses. The village benefits from the revenue and taxes these businesses bring in. We have very limited commercial/industrial space.

If this location were to be changed to residential, what would stop future developers from targeting the surrounding industrial spaces for their residences? It will create a chain reaction that will be difficult to stop.

I hope that the board will have the courage to ask the developers to find a different space for their residential property.
