Proud of BG board and zoning board

In the matter of the Svigos Asset Management appeal to raise the allowed roof height on the old Rogan’s shoe store at Dundee and Buffalo Grove roads: The people of Buffalo Grove should take their hats off for and applaud their best, to the Village’s Zoning Board and board of trustees.

Almost everything the store’s attorney proposed, both to the Zoning Board and the board of trustees, was questioned, challenged, disagreed with, and ultimately denied in both forums, by both boards.

While the members of the boards quoted facts opposite to the answers given to pertinent questions, the petitioner persisted in responding with estimates and “I’d have to look that up’s” and “I don’t have that number here”.

Both boards did their homework; they knew what the proper questions were and they asked them. They acted in the best interests of the people of the village and for preservation of the integrity of the ordinances and the members employed to manage them.

I would suggest that we attend more of these meetings and/or watch them on the local television channel to learn what is going on in the village and to see our representatives act on our zoning, building and signage code issues.

In the meantime, board members, keep up the good work, and thank you!
