Glen Ellyn man gets 4 years for child porn
A Glen Ellyn man was sentenced Monday to four years in prison for possessing child pornography videos.
Liviu Babei, 45, pleaded guilty in May to aggravated child pornography. He was sentenced by DuPage County Judge George Bakalis in a plea agreement, which also requires him to register as a sex offender for life.
Babei was charged in March after a monthlong undercover investigation by the Wheaton police department's child pornography unit. According to court records, an officer used an online file-sharing network to download illicit videos of underage girls, some younger than 13, from the defendant's home computer in February.
Babei was arrested after police executed a search warrant at his house on the 800 block of West Driveway in Glen Ellyn and seized computer and video equipment, court records show.
Babei had no prior criminal record in DuPage. He could have faced up to seven years in prison if convicted at trial.
