The Hoffman Estates Sustainability Commission is accepting applications for the 15th annual Community Pride Recognition Award from now until Monday, July 8. The award is given in three landscaping categories: single-family detached home, other than single-family detached home and neighborhood or homeowners association. This year, properties that incorporate "green" practices, such as rain barrels, natural wildlife preservation or nontoxic methods of pest and weed control, are also being recognized. Photographs will be taken of areas viewable from the street between July 9 and July 17. The winners will be recognized at a village board meeting in August.
