Palatine Fire Dept. launches life jacket loaner program

The Palatine Fire Department has teamed with the BoatU. S. Foundation to launch a life jacket loaner program for kids. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 10 people die each day from unintentional drowning and children ages one to four have the highest drowning rates. The department will provide free, loaner life jackets for children. Families can check them out for up to one week. The department currently has 88 life jackets in infant, child, youth and young adult sizes. For information, call (847) 202-6340 or stop by any of the four fire station.
