A special memory of a great man

Many moons ago when country and western music was for squares and before WMAQ was going to make us all rich, a friend and I went to a grand opening of Schrams 2nd Toy Store in Chicago. My friend loved guitar music. It was the reason we were there.

Bob Atcher was the special guest. Some pranksters soaped up his car windows as he performed. You should have seen the hurt feeling when he left. My friend and I helped remove the soap and in return Bob gave us a ride home. He told us as we rode about his house in Schaumburg and how he lost a horse when a barn went down.

Bob, as former mayor of Schaumburg, is responsible for Woodfield and the village being the metropolis they are today, and I am honored to have known him for that short amount of time.
