Fox Valley Repertory to host benefit comedy night

Submitted by Fox Valley Repertory

Fox Valley Repertory will host a benefit comedy night, “Comedy For A Cauze,” at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 20. This event gives local adults an opportunity to support the education of performing arts.

The show will feature stand-up comedian Pat McGann at Zanies Comedy Club, 4051 E. Main St., St. Charles. Doors open at 7 p.m.

McGann is the founder and host of PBS’s “The Chicago Stand-Up Project.” He is a Chicago native who grew up on the city’s south side. He still resides in Chicago, living near the Zanies Comedy Club in Old Town, where he has been the house emcee since 2008.

Proceeds received from tickets will be used to fund the creation of a new FVR Performing Arts Academy classroom in the Fox Valley Repertory administrative office.

While student performances will still take place at Pheasant Run Resort, the new space will give students a main classroom to practice their skills. The space will include easy and accessible parking, a small waiting room for parents and a carpeted rehearsal space with mirrors, white boards and a piano.

The academy is home to more than 1,000 local youth students who are either learning arts for the first time, building self-confidence through performance techniques or fine-tuning their stage talents. With the growing number of classes, camps and workshops being offered to the community, Fox Valley Rep wants to create a space that is comfortable, consistent and close to their administrative office and staff. The comedy is rated R. Audience members must be at least 21 years of age with a valid I.D. to attend the show. Zanies also requires that all ticket purchasers have a two-drink or food item minimum purchase during the show.

General ticket reservations will be $25, which will be taken until June 17.
