Mettaway’s Grainger May sales increases 5 percent

W.W. Grainger in Mettawa said sales results during May 2013 increased 5 percent over the same period last year.

The global supplier of maintenance, repair and operating products said U.S. sales were up 6 percent, with Canada sales increasing 2 percent. Global sales increased 10 percent during the period, the company said in a release

Grainger reported the 5 percent total included 3 percentage points from volume, 2 percentage points from price and 1 percentage point from acquisitions, partially offset by a 1 percentage point decline from unfavorable foreign exchange.  The month of May 2013 had 22 selling days, the same as May 2012.

The company is scheduled to report second quarter earnings on July 17.
