Neil McCarthy’s tips...

We asked Neil McCarthy, history teacher at Mundelein High School, for some advice for students. In his own words:

Never stop being a student. There is always something new you can learn to give you new perspectives on issues, etc.

Travel as much as you can. It is not only the place you learn about, it’s the many interesting people you will come across.

Try to keep an open mind. You will gain new insights and realize we can all be wrong.

Pursue a career that you are passionate about. Every day will feel fulfilled. As Confucius puts it: “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
