Men shot at apartment complex near Mt. Prospect

Two men are recovering from their injuries after being shot Thursday night at an apartment complex in an unincorporated area near Mount Prospect, authorities said Friday.

Cook County sheriff’s police officers responded to the 700 block of Dempster Street just before 9 p.m. Thursday and found a 24-year-old man with gunshot wounds lying on the ground outside the front entrance of a building in the complex. A 22-year-old man with gunshot wounds was located inside the building, authorities said.

Both men were taken to local hospitals.

Cook County sheriff’s investigators said three to five men may have been involved in the shooting, which appeared to be drug-related. Police searched the surrounding area with a K-9 unit but didn’t find any suspects.
