Boomers win third straight, 12-5

The Schaumburg Boomers continued their home-field dominance Wednesday afternoon as they easily beat the Normal CornBelters, 12-5, at Boomers Stadium. Starting pitcher Cody Griebling got his first win of the season for the Boomers (8-4), trailed early before scoring 8 unanswered runs to take control over the CornBelters (7-4). CornBelter's starter Tyler Lavigne (1-2, 5.02) took the loss.

After taking a 3-2 lead in the second, the Boomers added 3 more in the fifth thanks to a string of 2-out singles by Sean Mahley, Bobby Martin and Craig Hertler.

The Boomers will go for their fourth straight win and a 7-0 home record at 6:30 p.m. Thursday against Normal when RHP Joe Parsons (1-0, 7.45) makes his third start of the season against RHP Jose Trinidad (2-0, 2.84).
