• The toy backhoe sand digger was broken off its stand at Big Woods Park, 1100 S. Raddant Road, it was reported to police at 9:49 a.m. Monday.

• Randall W. Hallberg, 48, of the 400 block of Illinois Avenue, was charged with assault, at 3:16 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of North Washington Avenue, according to a police report.

• Jerry J. Marquardt, 49, of the 2000 block of Charles Lane, Aurora, was charged with retail theft at 3:37 p.m. Monday at Menards, 300 N. Randall Road, according to a police report.

• Tanya M. Gregoire, 24, of the 700 block of Lancaster Lane, Geneva, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic syringe or needle, and resisting a peace officer, at 7:08 p.m. Monday in the 2000 block of Peterson Place, according to a police report. Steven P. Stanwood, 28, of St. Charles, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic syringe or needle, police said.
