Heart Of A Marine Foundation gives military spouses special day

On Thursday, May 9, The Heart Of A Marine Foundation, in partnership with Mario Tricoci of Schaumburg, hosted a “red carpet” day of pampering for residents of Fisher House, located on the campus of Edward Hines Jr., VA Hospital.

Fisher House is a home away from home for families of veteran patients receiving medical care at Hines VA, Hospital, without cost. According to Holly Wright, manager of Hines Fisher House, many families live there for months.

“This opportunity to bring our residents to Mario Tricoci is fabulous. This is a true luxury,” Wright said. “The last thing they think of is themselves. This will be an extraordinary experience for everyone.”

Mario Tricoci Schaumburg Manager Rachel Mills added, “This is a wonderful and humbling experience for our team to host this event. We are honored to have Fisher House here once again. An afternoon of pampering can really make someone’s day. They certainly deserve this time.”

One of the participants in the makeover was a Marine veteran, Ruth, who celebrated her 90th birthday this day with her very first pedicure.

“This is a day I will never forget,” Ruth said. “Everything has been delightful. What a fun day for all of us!”

This special Mother’s Day makeover event was topped off by a “reveal” dinner at the Schaumburg Ram Restaurant & Brewery.

“It is our honor to have these ladies here. What a special evening for our staff to host this group,” said Ram manager Greg Wiedman.

Georgette Frank, Gold Star Mom and president of The Heart Of A Marine Foundation said, “Spouses are the backbone and strength of our veterans. We will always be there for them. It is our deep pleasure to host this event in their honor. We look forward to future events with Hines Fisher House. The staff and residents are very special to us.”

The campus of DeVry University in Addison recently opened a Veterans Center in conjunction with the DeVry Military Resource Club. The Heart Of A Marine Foundation was proud to donate to the vet center commercial grade coffee maker, microwave and many military related books for their library.

At the ribbon-cutting event for the Veteran Center, Georgette Frank was asked to carry a special book of honor, a listing of all Illinois military who gave their lives in Iraq or Afghanistan. Marine Lance Cpl. Phil Frank’s name was specially marked, and Georgette gave the book a special place within the Veteran Center.

“It is our privilege to help DeVry Military Resource Club ‘March the Path!’” Georgette Frank said.

The Heart Of A Marine Foundation is established in memory, honor, and spirit of Marine Lance Cpl. Phillip Frank, and serves all branches of the United States Armed Forces, veterans and their families.
