Playing their first extra-inning game of the season, the Schaumburg Boomers took advantage with a 3-2 walk-off win over t

Alexi Colon played the hero, singling to deep right field with the bases loaded and no outs in the 11th to drive home Chad Mozingo with the game-winning run.

The Boomers (2-0) fell behind 1-0 in the first inning, but starter Danny Jimenez, a St. Charles native, settled down. He working 6 innings and struck out seven in his season debut. Jose Rodriguez picked up the win in relief.

The Boomers' pitching staff matched a franchise record with 13 strikeouts, as each of four pitchers fanned at least 1.

Mozingo went 3-for-5, and Michael Valadez added a pair of hits.

The Boomers (2-0) are back in action today at 6 p.m. against the Wild Things. Cody Griebling, who won six games as a starter last season, will make his 2013 debut opposite Shawn Sanford.
