Homeless man gets 20 years for Elgin sex assault
A homeless man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting an Elgin woman he knew in March, prosecutors said Friday.
Phillip J. Dillon, 46, accepted the sentence in exchange for a guilty plea to one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault.
Authorities said the assault took place March 3 inside the victim’s apartment on the 100 block of South State Street. According to Kane County prosecutors, the woman invited Dillon into the apartment, and once inside, he punched her in the face multiple times and prevented her from leaving. He then sexually assaulted her.
Authorities said Dillon forced the victim to shower, and while she was in the shower, he left the apartment.
Dillon was given credit for at least 60 days served in the Kane County jail. He has been held there since his arrest in lieu of $405,000 bail.
