Body found near Salt Creek identified

The body of a man found near Salt Creek in Oak Brook last month has been identified.

The DuPage County coroner’s office on Thursday confirmed the identity of Michael Hardin, 49. Hardin’s address was unconfirmed, the coroner’s office said.

The badly decomposing body was discovered on the morning of April 19 by a person walking along York Road. The body was floating near a wooden walkway that was flooded due to the morning’s storms. It was discovered just east of York, across from the Graue Mill and Museum, according to Lt. Howard Oller of the DuPage County Forest Preserve District Police Department.

The forest preserve district said it would be unable to provide additional details until Friday morning. DuPage County Coroner Richard Jorgensen could not be reached for comment.
