MYR Group names COO to lead subsidiaries

Rolling Meadows-based MYR Group Inc., a specialty contractor serving the electrical infrastructure market, said Chief Operating Officer Richard S. Swartz, Jr., has been promoted to the position of President of MYR subsidiary companies Sturgeon Electric Company Inc., The L.E. Myers Co., Harlan Electric Company and Hawkeye Construction, Inc.

Swartz will continue to hold the position of senior vice president and COO of MYR.

“The changes are designed to strengthen and develop our management team for continued growth in our T&D and C&I businesses,” stated Bill Koertner, President and Chief Executive Officer of MYR. “Developing employees in all phases of our business from first step apprentice to an executive officer remains one of our highest priorities.”

“Rick’s career follows this very path, starting out as an apprentice electrician for Sturgeon in 1982, working his way through the management ranks and now filling the role of Sturgeon’s President.” Koertner continued, “Rick’s professional development exemplifies what can be achieved, and provides a solid role model for our current and future managers.”
