Relay For Life for Barrington has a number of events scheduled as part of its quest to raise $400,000 for the American Cancer Society and maintain its ranking as No. 2 in the state in relay programs.

Events include the sixth annual mega garage sale held last weekend in Deer Park.

Other upcoming events are:

• Bowling Social, 7-10 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Brunswick Bowling Zone, 21080 N. Rand Road, Lake Zurich. Donation minimum of $20 includes bowling, shoes, soda and pizza. (847) 438-5585. Event chair: Meredith McDonnell, mcmcdonnell42@gmail.com.

• St. Anne's Book Sale, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at 120 N. Ela St., Barrington. Event chair: Mary Sneed, mary.y.sneed@sbcglobal.net or (847) 756-4235.

• Runway Fashion Show, 2-4 p.m. Sunday, June 2, Barrington Hills Country Club, 300 W. County Line Road, Barrington. Event chair: Leslie Roberts, leslie8486@aol.com or (847) 274-4350.

• Relay For Life, 6 p.m. Friday, June 7, to 6 a.m. Saturday, June 8, Barrington High School, including a cake-decorating contest and the world record for birthday cakes in one location. Contact Diane Ahrens, cakeb1@aol.com, (224) 805-1220.

There also will be a golf outing Aug. 26.

The group said 72 cents of every dollar raised goes to the local community to help those in need and to fund a cure.
