Island Lake activists still targeting Amrich

The activists who tried to get Island Lake Mayor-elect Charles Amrich knocked of the ballot are taking their case to the Illinois Supreme Court.

Daniel Field and Louis Sharp tried twice to get Amrich tossed as a candidate, citing problems with his paperwork and other issues, but eventually a Lake County judge ruled the veteran politician could run.

Field and Sharp sought a reversal at a state appeals court but were denied. The next step is the state Supreme Court, and the appropriate documents have been filed, according to an attorney for the village.

An attorney for Field and Sharp couldn’t be reached for comment.

Amrich is set to take office Thursday. He soundly defeated incumbent Debbie Herrmann in the April 9 election.
