Bloomingdale man charged with growing pot

Authorities discovered 42 mature marijuana plants and other younger plants Wednesday night in the basement of a Bloomingdale home, officials said Thursday.

Officials from the DuPage County sheriff’s office and Bloomingdale police said they received an anonymous tip of a marijuana growing operation on the 300 block of Colony Green Drive. They made contact with the resident and conducted a search, where they found a “sophisticated” growing operation of plants and growing equipment, according to a news release.

They also discovered drug paraphernalia in the residence, officials said.

Authorities arrested and charged Joseph Angelo, 29, with one count of production or possession of cannabis plants over 20, but less than 50, which is a class three felony. He was released after posting 10 percent of his $20,000 bail.
