Mount Prospect native Lee DeWyze will return to the stage that launched his career when he performs live on "American Idol" Thursday night.
The singer, who won the Fox singing show in 2010, announced on Twitter Monday that he will perform his new single "Silver Lining."
DeWyze was back in the suburbs over the weekend, playing a show at Lincolnshire's Viper Alley Friday night. In an interview with the Daily Herald last week, he said he would "love" to perform his new song on "Idol."
"Silver Lining" is the first single on DeWyze's upcoming new album, his first since signing with Vanguard Records.
"American Idol" airs at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
