Mount Prospect down to one road closure

Improving conditions in Mount Prospect Friday morning pushed the village down to just one road closure.

Only River Road between Camp McDonald Road and Milwaukee Avenue remains closed from floodwaters, village Manager Michael Janonis said.

The village simultaneously announced that its garbage and recycling collector, Republic Services, will begin collecting flood-damaged debris on Monday, April 22.

Residents may place such debris at their curb for pickup on their regular collection day as per standard specifications. But yard waste collection will be suspended for the week.

Residents who still want to report basement flooding can call Mount Prospect public works at (847) 870-5640, though the village doesn’t have the ability to remove water from inside homes.

The village is warning residents not to enter flooded basements due to the risk of electrical risk.
