Two people were injured -- one critically -- in a four-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Crystal Lake, authorities said.

Police said the crash occurred just before 3 p.m. at the intersection of routes 31 and 176. Three cars had come to a stop in the inner northbound lane of Route 31 due to traffic congestion when a fourth vehicle collided with the car in back, causing a chain reaction.
