Abandoned cats deserve better
In response to the column written by Froma Harrop regarding outdoor cats, I totally agree that cats should be kept indoors. Unfortunately there are many irresponsible people who allow their cats outside, often without neutering them first, and many people who move away leave their cats to fend for themselves. The fact that they are eating birds (and mice, which is fine with everyone but never mentioned) is to be expected. What I find reprehensible is the idea that wild birds need feeding but abandoned cats should be allowed to slowly starve to death while people watch and do nothing. Really?
