Duckworth to visit Elgin library on Saturday

U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth will visit Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin on Saturday to answer any questions from the public, library officials said.

Duckworth, a Democrat who represents the 8th District, will talk one-on-one with constituents and take their questions, comments and ideas about federal issues during a “Congress at Your Corner” session from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the lobby of the library at 270 N. Grove Ave., according to a news release.

For more information, go to Duckworth’s Facebook page at facebook.com/CongresswomanTammyDuckworth.

Just before that, beginning at 3:30 p.m., Duckworth will thank volunteers from the Center of Economic Progress who assist lower-income residents with free tax preparation at the library.

CEP provides free tax preparation and financial services to families earning less than $50,000 and individuals earning less than $25,000. The Elgin tax site is hosted by the Gail Borden Public Library on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings and on Saturday mornings, where clients are able to file their taxes electronically for free and claim valuable tax credits.
