About 6 a.m. Jan. 19, Sobota entered RC's Grill restaurant, 117 W. St. Charles Road in Villa Park. Authorities said he took $81 from a cash register while threatening two people with a cellphone in his pocket, saying it was a gun.

Sobota was arrested as he ran east about a block from the scene. Police recovered the stolen money.

Sobota, of the 100 block of Oak Avenue, has been in police custody about three months, which will count toward his prison term.
